Udo Kleinitz

Ancien secrétaire général d'ICOMIA

Udo Kleinitz career is truly linked with the marine industry. In his active boatbuilding career, he worked over 15 years on various locations but mostly on the Bavarian lakes near Munich/Germany during which he obtained the German master craftsman qualification. Based in the UK since 2008, he worked for trade associations as the ICOMIA Technical Manager, British Marine Federation’s Head of Technical Services and ICOMIA Secretary General. During the trade association years, he was involved in major environmental policy initiatives such as the review of emission limits under the EU Recreational Craft Directive and the United Nations IMO Tier III MARPOL convention and initiated a landmark study to assess pathways to a carbon-neutral marine industry. Udo joined the Amorim Group in 2023 to co-create a Joint Venture (Navicork) using cork as carbon-negative, renewable material in boatbuilding. An avid outdoor enthusiast, in his private time Udo sails in the English Channel and Med, and travels long-distance by bicycle. He is also engaged volunteering in local community projects.
