- COMPETR is a Monegasque marine technology startup developing a new generation of high-performance electric outboard propulsion systems. Designed natively for electric architecture, the COMPETR system delivers approximately 40 HP equivalent performance with an industry-leading power-to-weight ratio, enabled by a lightweight 25 kg motor unit and a proprietary counter-rotating tractor propeller configuration.
Operating at 96V, the system combines hydrodynamic efficiency, reduced transom load, silent operation, and modular battery integration, making it particularly suited for premium tenders, performance RIBs, professional fleets, and defense-related applications. Its architecture prioritizes real-world usability, simplified installation, and high thrust efficiency rather than oversized industrial designs.
The technology originates from applied research activities at the University of Bologna and has evolved into an independent industrial venture headquartered in Monaco. Today, COMPETR focuses on industrialization, strategic OEM partnerships, and market deployment in high-value segments where electric propulsion must match — and surpass — combustion performance.
